
Mikhail Nemtsov grew up in St. Petersburg and, after graduating from the Rimsky-Korsakov Special Music School, moved to Manchester, where he studied at Chetham's School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music. His outstanding professors included Nicholas Jones, Hannah Roberts, Ralph Kirshbaum and Gary Hoffman. Mikhail Nemtsov performs worldwide as a soloist. Recent highlights of his career include concerts with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the Philharmonia Orchestra London, the Porto Symphony Orchestra, the European Union Chamber Orchestra, the Manchester Camerata and the London Festival Orchestra. He was awarded the Pierre Fournier Award, the Gold Medal from the Royal Northern College of Music and the Silver Medal at the Rostropovich Memorial Competition. With his sister he plays in the NemtsovDuo, a CD of which was recently released by Azurro Records and another by CMF. Mikhail Nemtsov taught at the Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal Northern College of Music, where he held the position of Associate Honorary Artist. Since August 2019 he has been solo cellist in the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra and a member of the Hindemith Streuch Quartet.
