Personal
- 1967 Born in Leningrad, now St Petersburg Parents: E. Gorokhov, neurologist, and T. Gorokhova, Railway engineer
- 1969 encounters with house music at the age of two through his grandfather, one passionate amateur musician
- 1972 Private piano lessons
- 1974 attended the music high school at the Leningrad Conservatory, majoring in cello, class of S. Zagursky (later solo cellist Radio Filarmonic Orkest, Hilversum, Holland)
- 1982 began studying in the class of Prof. A. Nikitin, solo cellist of the Leningrad Philharmonic. Further influences through encounters with Daniil Shafran, Janos Starker, Bernhard Greenhouse, Anner Bylsma, Yehudi Menuhin.
Prizes
- 1982 1st prize and Grand Prix at Concertino-Praha, followed by his first concert tour abroad
- 1984 2nd Prize Cello Competition of the Russian Republic
- 1986 1st prize and Grand Prix Patek Philippe at the Concours Internationale D'Execution Musicale,Geneva
- 1987 Paris Chamber Music Competition, 1st prize as a duo with piano
- 1987-1991 Participation in music festivals and concert tours
- 1991 Met Sir Yehudi Menuhin and moved to London, Great Britain teaching activity
- 1991-2001 teaching at the Yehudi Menuhin School
- 1992-1995 taught at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester
- 1995-2004 taught at the Royal College of Music, London
- 2004-2009 taught at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London
- 2008- Professorship at the University of Music, Theater and Media Hannover, Germany
